PU TAR
a 1K ready-to-use waterproofing coat containing polyurethane and a hydrophobic tar resin. Due
to the black colour of the tar content, this product is only available with a glossy black finish.
Description
- APPEARANCE Black solvent-based liquid with coal odour
- VISCOSITY 1 000 cps @ 25°C
- ELONGATION 655% at break
- TENSILE STRENGTH 1.4 MPA at break
Coverage
- 2 m² per litre per coat.
- Two coats are required for waterproofing, resulting in an overall 1 m² per litre.
- A WFT of 500 microns will provide the above.
Drying
- Drying time is normally 2-3 hours for the maximum thickness (WFT 500 microns) coat.
- Thicker coats run the risk of trapping solvent between skins.
- Do not exceed 500 microns WFT.
Application
- Do not apply ULTRACOTE® PU TAR to frozen substrates, if the ambient temperature is below 5°C, or is expected to fall below 5°C in the next 24 hours.
- Apply by means of brush, roller or spray, noting that an extra 5 % of xylene will need to be added for spraying.
- Priming is always recommended especially as it removes the need for a pre-inspection of the concrete. When in doubt, please contact CSC Builder Mart for guidance.
Surface Prep
- Remove any loose material. Ensure that there are no oils or other materials that can hinder the adhesion of ULTRACOTE® PU TAR
- Smooth down any surface imperfections.
- Remove any laitancy with a wire brush or use high pressure washing for large areas.
